US ‘LOST’ THE 20-YEAR WAR IN AFGHANISTAN

WASHINGTON: The top US general yielded a distinct confirmation on Wednesday that the United States “lost” the 20-year battle in Afghanistan.

It is clear to us all that the conflict in Afghanistan didn’t end on the terms we needed, with the Taliban in power in Kabul,” General Mark Milley, director of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the House Armed Services Committee.
The conflict was an essential disappointment,” Milley enlightened an advisory group hearing regarding the US troop pullout from Afghanistan and the tumultuous departure from the capital Kabul.

“It wasn’t lost over the most recent 20 days or even 20 months,” Milley said.
“There s a total impact to a progression of key choices that go way back,” said the general, the top military counsel to President Joe Biden, who requested a finish to the 20-year US troop presence in Afghanistan.
“At whatever point you get some marvel like a conflict that is lost — and it has been, in the feeling of we achieved our essential errand of securing America against Al-Qaeda, yet the end state is a ton not quite the same as what we needed,” Milley said.
So at whatever point a marvel like that occurs, there s a horrendous parcel of causal variables,” he said. “Also, were must sort that out. Plenty of examples learned here.”
Milley recorded various elements liable for the US route returning to a botched chance to catch or kill Al-Qaeda pioneer Osama container Laden at Tora Bora before long the 2001 US attack of Afghanistan.
Biden, in April, requested a total pullout of US powers from Afghanistan by August 31, finishing an arrangement that came to with the Taliban by the previous president Donald Trump.
